Please Don't Understand: Thoughts on Degrassi

I never really cared about Cam. Not that I didn’t like him or anything, it’s just that to me, he was one of those characters that I took no interest in.

But tonight’s episode…damn. I felt for him so much, and even though I don’t know everything about him that’s led up to this, it hurt. A lot….

these are pretty much my thoughts. I like Cam and Dylan who plays him is hilarious and adorable, but I was never really THAT in Camaya’s story lines… but after this past episode my heart is really breaking for Cam. So many things are about to happen. I think we are really going to see how much of an impact committing (or attempting to) commit suicide can do for a community. I don’t know how I am going to manage watching Degrassi next week, not because of their choice of content but because of how real it is going to be.

Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary

Today marks another school shooting. It is awful to think that 28 families just lost a piece of their lives. It doesn’t help that there is a little over a week to Christmas. My prayers go out to everyone involved. No child should have to go through that but I am thankful that the teachers stepped up and saved those kids by keeping them in closets and offices. There is no justification for this event. 

I do want to say that this has nothing to do with the right to bear arms. If the guns were taken away, the people who do these violent things will still find ways to commit such terrible crimes. It is unfortunate but instead of focusing on “the gun” focus on the community and the families affected by a violent crime. It wasn’t the gun, it was the person behind it.
